40 Cans for Lent and OK Clean Water Lenten Projects

This Lent, we are focused on two projects as a school community: a can food drive for our local food cupboards (we've partnered with the Knights of Columbus) and a fundraiser for  Ottawa-Kumbo Clean Water Initiative. Every Tuesday during Lent, we are encouraging students to bring in a can or two to donate to those in need. Working with a number of other schools, our goal is to raise 2000 pounds of food.  Last year, we came close to collecting that many cans ourselves. Our very generous  and compassionate  community definitely embrace our social justice intiatives and reinforce the good message of service to others.
We also have four different special event or activity days to collect  donations for the OK Clean Water Initiative, culminating in our Mile of Coins Day which results in many pounds of coin donations all going towards byuilding clean water facilities in Kumbo, Cameroon.
All of our community's efforts serve to make a differnce in the world, both in our local and global neighbourhoods, and to teach our students about social justice and their responsibility as Christians and as citizens in our world.
