SJA had its first Math Night Wednesday, April 19th at 6:30 in the Learning Commons. Dr Christine Suurtumm, Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Ottawa, presented research on contemporary mathematics in our schools in Ontario and some of the instructional approaches that are used in our classrooms. Following Dr Suurtumm's presentation, Ms O'Brien, Ms Bourassa, Mr MacGillivary and Ms Hodgins lead workshops on Number Talks and student inquiry in mathematics, K-6.

The evening was very well attended with over 40 families joining us. Children were entertained by Ray's Reptiles during the presentation. Thanks to our Grade 6 Ambassadors who greeted our guests and helped with the child minding.

Thanks to School Council and our 8 School PRO Grant Group.
